Luke’s full of smiles, especially when he first wakes up in the morning! When he’s not smiling, he’s usually napping in his wrap….he can confirm that it’s the best life ツ
Some of my favorite things from this month:
+ SLEEP lol. Luke has started to sleep through the night and it's glorious. I made a blog post about those sleepless nights that are actually quite special (and very temporary). But my goodness, I am extra thankful to get some more sleep back too ツ
+ His smiles. People don't tell you that when your baby starts to smile at you, you basically melt in a puddle every time and it's the best thing in the world. Luke wakes up with the biggest squinty-eyed, full-cheeks, open-mouth smile in the mornings that I've ever seen and it makes getting out of bed a million times easier. Ugh, it's the best.
+ He's my little work buddy. I have the best work....I get to work from home and also watch Luke and it's pretty amazing. I don't have to miss out on the most special years that are about to fly by...instead I get to raise him while also providing for my family. It's truly a gift how much they value moms and I can't wait to see more workplaces being held to those kinds of standards. The days are long sometimes, but I wouldn't trade it for anything else. And I just love getting to soak up smiles and cuddles in between naps and work calls.
Things I've learned this month:
+ Kids are just the best thing in the world. I've been around kids my whole life and I've always loved them big-time. But raising kids is even better.
+ Having a job that values family and work-life balance is everything. It's a big part of why I left teaching and I hope to never stop fighting for those that want/need to have jobs without sacrificing parts of motherhood that they don't want to give up.
+ Time is still a thief. I want to savor the days as I watch Luke already growing and changing so much. It makes me sad watching it all happen within the blink of an eye, but what a gift each day is.
